Carter dreamt of being a pastor.

After being awarded a bachelor's degree in Argument and Persuasion from California State University, Fullerton, Carter married Amy (his beautiful wife of 23 years) and drove up the interstate 5 stopping in Portland, Oregon. He wanted to prepare for ministry so he attended Multnomah Seminary and earned a Master's of Divinity in Rhetoric and Exegesis.

His drive to pastor a church lead him back to Southern California where he pastored two churches.

Finally, his work paid off. He was privileged to pastor two churches.

While pastoring his churches he started to substitute teach. Meanwhile, his views about the Bible and Christianity changed. He is what Christians would call an apostate.

So he stopped pastoring, enrolled in National University and graduated with a MEd in Educational Best Practices.

Soon after graduation, Carter began to teach English in middle schools.

He now teaches Literature and African American Studies at the high school level.

growthucator.com started because Carter wanted to combine his passions for reading literature, teaching, leadership, and personal growth.
