Langston Hughes was harassed by his dad to work a particular occupation. Every day his dad wanted him to do anything but write. Langston Hughes decided to run from his dad’s domain, hop on a ship, and head to Europe. On his way over to Europe, he took every book he had put it in his bag, walked over to the edge of a ship, and dumped every book into the ocean, except a book of poetry. This marked his transformation into a poet/writer.
Without this one courageous act, the world would be a different place without Langston Hughes’s poetry. Because of his act of courage, I am able to analyze commentary on his poems. Please enjoy.
