Book Review 24: DR J by Julius Irving

Flashy and elegant, Dr. J grew up poor. He discovered this game called basketball and sought to perfect his skill in it. He practiced and played as religiously as a cleric reads and studies their sacred texts.

His work ethic and natural ability helped him to reach high heights in the game. He attended college and had a great professional career after college.

One thing he credits to his success is his desire to live by the rules. Whether as a child or adult, on the basketball court or off Dr J principle of living by the rules led to superstardom. Many people are applauded for being a maverick. Some assume rebellion to the rules leads to extraordinary outcomes especially if your the rules align with your values or are rules you’ve created. Living by the rules can make a big impact too.

Live by rules,
